You can compete all the way to the Olympics
The competition schedule is a busy one. There are always events on from competitions between local clubs to the Olympics.
The Victorian Clubs meet approximately every six weeks for a competition.
State Championships are held in the first quarter of each year.
National Championships are held shortly after the State Championships. State Championship results lead to selection for the National Championships.
We sometimes get invited to international competitions such as Pan Pacifics or New Zealand competitions. FINA run a number of international competitions include the Synchronised Swimming World Cup and include synchronised swimming in broader events such as the World Aquatics Championship. The World Aquatics Championship is held by FINA every 2 years and in 2007 it was held in Melbourne.
Introduced in the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games, synchronised swimming events were held each Games until dropped at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Synchronised swimming is an optional sport at the Commonwealth Games so the hosting city can choose whether or not to include the sport. Each Commonwealth Games featuring synchronised swimming included a solo and a duet event. The 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games also included a figures event.
Synchronised swimming was introduced in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. Originally also including a solo event, the last five Olympics have have included two events, women's team and women's duet. Both events will be held at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

What to take to competitions
- Club/State training bathers and cap
- Black bathers
- White cap + spare cap
- 2 x nose clips (at least)
- Club Tracksuit – shorts/pants, polo/t-shirt & Jumper
- Training Bag
- Bobby pins (French pins and normal pins)
- Hair net
- Pastry brush + container for gel
- Routine bathers and head pieces
- Nail polish remover & cotton wool
- Container for jewellery
- Spare music on CD for walk-throughs or just in case
- ipod or similar for walk-throughs
